The ice storm is over. For now...more wintry precipitation may be in the forcast for Tuesday and Wednesday. Winter in Texas: gotta love it!!

January fourteenth, fifteenth:
The city, frozen in place, glaz'd
white:  nothing moves.  Nothing, except
me, taking photographs with my
eyes, writing poems about the
ice, making memories:  the trees
bow'd low by the weight of winter;
watching cars stall'd in a holding
pattern, going nowhere fast (ground
stopp'd); feeling color slapp'd to  my
cheeks:  when we're deep in July and
August heat, I will remember.

You describe what you see extremely well, Karla. There is never any doubt or confusion. What you say is what we see. Excellent! All the same, this too will pass. Keep safe, keep warm, keep smiling.

God Bless

Ice storms are beautiful, though they can wreak havoc on our daily routine. I love the way that the trees kneel in awe of Mother Nature's power and how humbled I feel as life moves on her schedule and not on our own. Beautiful poem, Karla.

With my company being all over the country we kept getting emails saying this plant is closing due to weather...then another, then another, then another. It's a beautiful sight but dangerous to everything.
Keep warm.

This will be the cool place that you will visit in the heat of summer my friend, you know how we are told to remain cool in the time of heat, that we should think of a cool place and cool thoughts, well hold on to the memories and photographs that you've taken with your photographic eyes, you may need them in July...this weather is crazy, here in Kentucky it was 64 degrees today...raining like crazy but warm, flowers are coming up! What's up with all this madness???? Loved your write....

You said it, Karla: when it is 100 degrees out, we will be wishing for the ice and colder weather! Very well done; glad we made it through the icy grip of the past few days! (Also glad we didn't bust our yo yos! LOL)
