i go to bed and get ready for the night.
the nightmares interrupt my sleep once again.
every damn night it is the same awful theme.
the towers are falling with you trapped inside.
i know that firefighting was what you loved.
i do understand the sacrifice you made.
you were my strength, and i am lost without you.
i don't understand my feelings anymore.
my "friends" are all saying, "just get over this!"
it pisses me off...i would if i knew how.

~~Lovingly dedicated to the FDNY, especially
the wives of those lost on September 11...
we lost too many of our brothers, but I do
understand and appreciate the sacrifices
made...the FDNY never gives up!! I love
you with all my heart, and THANK YOU
for a job well done!! Here are some
great BIG (((HUGS))) from Texas-way...
Love, Karla.

Even though I did not know anyone that died in the attacks on our Nation, I have friends that lost someone they loved. Some of what they've told me is included in this poem.
