Iíve never really liked sitting in the darkness
But here at this moment I watch the setting sun
Goodnight light into this silent woods I melt
Here I wait to hear the creatures of the night

An owl flutters high up above me in a branch
In moments the field mice better run from talons
Bats aching to spread their wings get ready for flight
I sigh and sit here in the chilly nightís breath

Movement to my left makes me freeze still
The moss beneath me is soft, musty and silent
Thank goodness for that I donít want to be seen
As I am the intruder here in this darkened wood

Memories of bohemian tales from my Bobci
Bring me to this frightened state of unrest
But I will sit here to hear the wolves call
Just to experience the hidden ones descent

A different world emerges in the ebony forest
High above me in these trees movements ring out
Sound is intensified footsteps and breaking branches
Snapping and growls all make a New World emerge

Though Iíve never really liked sitting in the darkness
Here at this moment I will watch the setting sun
Goodnight light into this silent woods I am melting
Here I wait to hear the creatures of the nightís song

Outstanding imagery, it's amazing how different a familiar place can become when night falls. My husband and I enjoy riding 4-wheelers at night through the mountains, and sometimes our rino atv...I enjoy just sitting and watching the moon come up, and try to count the stars as they begin to come out, I love the sounds within the mountains and trees at night as long as I am not by myself that is, it gets a bit creepy when you're alone...great write my friend. Glad I stopped by.
