Many, oh so many will someday stand before his creator naked and ashamed….

Last Rites Of A Righteous Man????

Father as we gather here today to pay our respect to this dear departed soul, we ask that he find comfort in the shelter of your loving arms….

“God? Are you God? What are all those people doing, and why do they weep?”

“They weep for you son. They ask of me to take you into my arms to forever keep.

“Yet, you did not hearken to my voice nor of my command keep.

“You thought you were bound for eternal glory by the power of my forgiving hand.”

“However the principles of my Holy truth you failed to justly understand.”

“Nay Lord, this cannot be, for I bid to you in your service every step of my way”

“I laid hands upon the sick; clothed the naked and fed those without a home.
“I gave it all to you every day lord, so how be it now that to you I not belong?”

“You failed me in my simple command… It is true that you laid hands on the sick in my name, true that you clothed the naked and fed those without a home, but in all this, you failed in the humblest of all my commands. Therefore you shall not sup at the table of the righteous tonight. Yours days hence will be filled with darkness through the eternal separation from I, the Lord Thy God.”

“How can this be so Lord, for I come to you with all my love and respect. I still cannot see how it could be that I failed your command?”

How can it be, for I beyond doubt with all my heart do not and cannot understand…

Deuteronomy 6 KJV

5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

Titus 3 KJV

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Superb reminder ,and inspired write Allen! It's amazing that we don't have to do but one thing, and that is to love God as He asks. He sees our heart so it does no good to spout the words, if they aren't buried in the heart.

"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." 2 TIMOTHY 2:5

TRUE GODLINESS recognizes our Heavenly Father for the Person He is..and loves, worships and serves Him with the whole heart; is crucified to self; is filled & empowered by the Holy Ghost; and becomes a bond-slave to Jesus The CHRIST!!!

Hallelujah! The LORD is MAGNIFIED - What an awesome work this is, Brother Allen!

God bless you!~ Rhonda

Love has a power beyond words and I believe that our love for the Lord, must go beyond the obvious and even beyond our comfort zones and into the realms of those heading toward Satan without knowing what it is, this "Love" they all seem to talk about.
We are here to bring as many souls to Him as possible, if we fail at spreading His unconditional love for us, then we have failed at attaining it for ourselves!
Hallelujah! J will reap in His love for you!

Good one, James! Very powerful ending! We have such great prayers and wonderful hymns ... and such an arm's length relationship with God. And the Bible is a work referred to much but apparently not studied at all. I was before a congregation some time back and we were discussing some of the commanded works, like visiting the sick and feeding the hungry and clothing the naked, and they were nodding up a storm and uttering "Yes, Lord," and all that stuff (Matthew 25:35-46), but they just looked dumb when we got to the part about visiting the prisoners. How could they know one part without knowing it ALL? Fact is, they ignore what they don't want to see -- like the Love you address in your poem. They don't (somehow) see that part.

Good write!

Really enjoyed this poem. I used to live in South Carolina for a spell. Actually worked on a Restaurant on the Isle of Palms called the Atlantic House. Helped my buddy with some roof there.
