Dear Cupid, on this special day
Reserved for words of love
Please send a heart of gold, my way
A gift from God above
I do not care if he is tall
Or even if he’s wise
For if he comes to me at all
He’ll be great, in my eyes.
I cannot say I am the best
I often make mistakes
But, if you grant this one request
You’ll heal a heart that aches
For someone who will lend an ear
And listen when I sigh
Please, Cupid, know I am sincere
I pray that you’ll reply.
Dear Cupid, though I am bereft
Of love, blissful and true
I realize that you have been left
With many things to do
But, if you feel that I deserve
Someone to call my own
I promise your gesture would serve
As the nicest I’ve known.
Cupid, I hope you’ll hear my prayer
For love to keep as mine
Then, send your arrow ‘cross the air
To spear my Valentine
If you could act on my request
You’d set my heart aglow
For if my life should be so blessed
I’d never let him go.
