Be still cupid
Let not your arrows fly
As my road is long and treacherous
My search is only mine

Be still cupid
Lay your quiver’s shafts to rest
Lest I fall under love’s sweet distraction
And wander from my quest

Be still cupid
Do not pierce my heart in error
Freshly healed there lie many scars
Which stirred may once more tear

Be still cupid
Do not mock or take me to task
Cowards may indeed close off their hearts
The valiant wear no masks

Be still cupid
That perhaps once more
God and my heart will find the door
That beckons me to love’s true call

Be still Cupid

Eros of love's name

Bask him in your favor

Allow him to love again!

Hope this works. I've known Cupid intimately and I think you'll be surprised very soon.

Love,

Susan

This is beautiful, well-structured poetry, Simon. You sucked me in with the title and then kept me wrapt until I finished reading your final line.
Take care,
Sherry
