Always we wish to be something to someone, a dear though, a remembrance, the sender of a Valentine card, a dry flower inside the book of a loved one.
Then, you have those that don't attain the worth of be forgotten.

I wish I could be
a candle in your night,
to give a trembling flicker
of hope within the dark.

I wish I could be
a candle so small in your hand,
that it will force you to search
between your fingers for its light.

I wish I could be
a burning candle that invites
with its dying flame the darkness
to come, for a lover's night.

I wish I could be
a candle in your life,
not a melted body which has been,
or an expended wooden match.
