an equestrian and horse lover all my life, i have also, with my children, rescued many horses, one at a time from the "killer pens" several weeks ago, my daughter and I untertook a rescue of many....

Sixteen horses of noble blood,

From 6 months to 23 years old

Granddaughters and grandsons

Of great names known

At the grandest of thoroughbred tracks

Northern Dancer, and Secretariat

Lyphard, Sir Gaylord, Nashrulla too

Each one diminished to bone and flesh

Sad, unkempt and hungry

They’ve not known the kindness of a brush

Or the flavor of carrot and apple

We get to work, my girl and I

Phone calls, and free ads

With offers to load and deliver.

Three weeks later, all have new homes

Each one a chance at a new life

With proper care, a job to do, and most of all, love

great humanitarian poetry Karen, I guess they would have ended up glue. Everytime I lick a stamp, I think about this, I guess it's a little horse in all of us

I don't understand how people can have animals and not respond to their needs. When Kiri and Ben are hungry, they let me know, and if Iecide to tease them and prend I won't feed them, they do all kinds of little tricks that they know will melt me.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!! SO sad -- & maddening -- that horrible things
happen to one of the most beautiful creatures ever created. To
ANY animal, but. . .horses are beyond wonderful, arent't they?
How lucky they are to have you on their side! Thank you for this
deeply affecting and all-too-clear reminder. . .and the great
photo! 'Pea' <3

Bravo my friend, I too am an animal lover and adore horses...they all deserve a good home and a gentle loving hand to give them an occasional carrot, apple, or cube of sugar...you have a wonderful giving, compassionate and loving heart dear friend. Enjoyed!
