If you have never been to Scotland, then you must go and if you have been, then you must go back. A beautiful place with some of the most friendly and accommodating people in the world. I fell in love with the country and the people and hope that I will one day be able to return to my adopted country.

Away to old Scotland, I did go,
hoping to find my past.
Searching for my heritage
and finding it, at last.

I started in the Highlands,
where mountains touch the sky
and continued to the Lowlands,
where sheep, in pastures lie.

To John O'Groats I soon went.
passing mountain and the sea.
Finding it a cold, harsh land,
but still, it did please me.

Inverness is a gentle place,
a city that captured my heart.
Filled with kind and giving people,
I loved it from the start.

Pitlochry is a mountain village,
where Salmon fill its streams.
A quaint and hidden place,
where a poet shared his dreams.

Onward to the city of Edinburgh,
where a mighty castle was found.
Within its gates, St. Margaret's Chapel,
still stands upon this ground.

Crossing a land of rocky beauty,
to a charming port city, I went.
Oban sat beside its tidal bay.
My time here, was well spent.

To cross Oban's cold, clear water,
upon the Cal-Mac ferry, I would ride.
Over to the Isles of Iona and Mull,
on a dreary morn's, high tide.

Iona was a religious place.
The ruins of a Nunnery, stand here.
Mull's mountains rise from the sea.
There were waterfalls and red deer.

It was almost time to leave this land.
but my journey was not yet finished.
Towards the Borders, I rode the train.
my fascination, still undiminished.

I came in search of something here
and know I found more, than most.
Not only did this place fill my soul.
I heard the calling, of its ghost.

This is a country I do wish to visit, and many more. I love to travel when I can. The only country that continues to haunt me is one where I have no will be interesting to see what happens when I finally visit it.......the country being Australia. Scotland......I love the fables and the people :-)
