My Best Friend

My beautiful BJ went to the meadow by the Rainbow Bridge in July of 2006, he was 16 eyars old. "The Great Black Hunter." Every now and then, I miss him so very much.

I miss you so much
my black, furry friend,
The sorrow still hurts
will it ever end?

Alone in my bed
where you used to be,
Every night while I slept
you protected me.

You laid in my arms
your fur soft and warm,
Cuddled me through heartbreak
and stayed through the storms.

Now you rest
in God’’s great care,
I know you are happy
because I saw you there.

God showed me that you
were healthy and happy once more,
My beautiful BJ,
my heart is still sore.

You left with such courage
for 16 years you were strong,
But then I had to let you go
when dreaded disease came along.

My constant companion,
I held you when I cried,
I was so very sorry dear BJ
when your body had died.

Now you play
in a meadow of peace,
Where God grants your wishes,
He lets you visit me in dreams,

I will always hold dear
unconditional love that you gave,
We didn’’t bury you, my BJ
nor did we put you in a grave.

We took you to the canyon
the place you so loved to roam,
Now God holds you near
in your new, peaceful home.

He could not let you stay
and suffer anymore,
I love you my dear BJ
and will forever more.

Such a heartfelt offering, full of comapassion and beautiful as well as heart wrenching memories...it is hard when we loose our friends, and pets can be the best friends of all! Wonderful tribute!

Your poetry brings tears to my eyes! Never easy is it? The pain lessens over time, but never really goes away. You have written a beautiful tribute to your friend BJ and hope it eases the hurt in your heart.

Be safe,
Karen

It's sad to lose a furry friend. Somehow though they always remain in our hearts and thoughts.
