I wrote this almost a year ago for a friend who was expecting her second child... |

Smooth, new skin nestling against your cheek,
and that sweet smell—like baby powder and purity—
tucked into a cuddly bundle of love.
Tiny fingers grasping, reaching,
fingernails so small,
like the minute, yet distinctive, glints of sand on an endless beach.
Sweet, innocent eyes staring about in wonder,
in revelation,
at such a brilliant, boisterous, color-drenched world.
Feeling honored to be holding, carrying,
such a precious bundle,
created with love,
Your gift to the universe.

A precious gift from God indeed. Babies never cease to amaze me. So tiny...yet so perfect...innocent, adorable, lovable, and cuddly too. Pity they don't remain so right into adulthood! :)
