How do you want to be remembered when you're gone from this earth? Fame? Riches? Talent? Leadership?
Perhaps this man had the wisest perception of memorable and truly worthwhile living.

He was such a gentle man,
     a kind and sentimental man.
He liked to sit on the old porch swing
and listen to the bluebirds sing.

He was such a caring man,
a thoughtful and a sharing man.
He liked to help with every task,
and didn't wait for us to ask.

He was such a funny man,
     a smile-with-me sunny man.
He liked to make us laugh and smile,
and he'd be chuckling all the while.

He was such a giving man,
     a life-is-worth-the-living man.
He liked to give to friend and neighbor,
and share the blessings of his labor.

He was such a precious man,
     a friendly, cheering, bless-us man.
We like to think of him today,
and we'll remember him alway.
Wouldn't you like to be remembered like this man?

"A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold."
                         (Proverbs 22:1 NIV)

Written in memory of Irvin Evans, a former neighbor

Connie, An outstanding tribute to an outstanding man, written by an outstanding poet and friend. The quoted verse from Proverbs is most appropriate. Excellent! Well done, my friend.
