Longingly in love and the anguish of heartbreak.

Original Poem in Greek available in print in Mosaic Eyes.

Lost in the Deep

I saw you like a spirit
A wise bird
With white wings, and pitch black eyes
With a ruby red beak, red like the blood
That runs through my veins.

Did you see me?
My eyes scanned your movements
Like needles that murdered the sky
The wind waged a war against me
Pushing me deep
Inside the white sea.

You dove
Your eyes shut
Your wings spread like a dagger
Looking for the fish, for the gold,
Did you know me, or was I a stranger?

I dove even deeper
My eyes open
Like chased prey
Lost, drowned
A heart beating unrhythmically.

And you, like a poisoned dagger
Found my heart
In the deep darkness
Buried in black sand
Covered like an innocent child.

You stabbed me
And with my blood
As scarlet as your beak
You made me yours
A lost battle
I remained a victim
carved with deep wounds.
