A Gentle Breeze is a poem I penned about the death of a local soldier while serving our nation in Iraq.

A Gentle Breeze

Agentle almost sadbreeze blows
across the grass of this hallowed
Where todayanother fallen soldier
is gently layed down.

With tears upon a mother's face
that even timewill not witheraway.
Her soldier son, was returned to
the clay.

His fiance wept tearswitha heart
set to love him for life.
Nowher heart broken, never to be
his wife.

A sacrifice made upon the altar
of freedom, for all that live free.
What a gift such is, how much
more can one give, how more
noble can one be?

A sacrifice made not only of the soldier,
but of those that love him as well.
They release him now to the Heavens
above, because they've once now
released him to a tour in hell.

Their hearts will never mend, and
their memories shall never fade.
God take their dear soldier, and
cradle him in peace for the great
sacrifice he's made.

We turn Specialist Davis over to
Your loving hands oh Lord and ask
You to lift his heroic spirit from this
This soldier's war is over, and now
he's heaven bound.
