I have seen his splendor, but know he will never be mine.

He stands upon his mountain top, as I view him from the Valley Below,
He has stolen my heart away, but doesn't know.
I am a Valley Woman and must dwell in the Shadows, not on a mountain top,
I realize my longing for him has to stop.
This Valley Woman, may not climb the mountain to find happiness,
He is not meant for me and it puts my heart to the test.
Why does life keep showing me things,
For they are always snatched away with the pull of a string.
Childhood promises bind me to a spot,
Fate determined my path, like it or not.
My body and heart crave his touch,
My tears fall like rain, I want him so much.
I am guilty of having deep feelings for this man,
Why he can touch my heart, I don't understand.
Once I beheld his face, the caring and feelings did begin,
But my feelings for him, must come to an end.
I will take one last look, before I must look away,
For I will remain in the valley and upon the top of his mountain is where he must stay.

Oh SC, you cannot know how much this "hits home" although for me, it's not about a man. Well, since you've read some of my "poems," perhaps you do know. This poem touched my soul and brought tears to my eyes. Thank you. Love and all good things to you,
