A Yankee Doodle

H.J. Cruz

When the Calvary lieutenant told the Cheyenne chief Black kettle that the land he resided upon was now owned by the U.S. government and that he would have to be relocated, Black kettle could not understand the concept and asked;

“How is it possible to own the land?”

FREEDOM!

The battle cry for independence from sovereign monarchies.

Yes you’ve earned it so gas up the barby and shoot your skyrockets,

 Then ask yourself; what does the word mean?

A revolution; a prostitution of morals and ethics.

A democracy; hypocrisy out of control.

The great machine’s gears are no longer meshing,

There, at its axis we find the greatest wear and tear,

The blood it uses for lubrication has coagulated.

A patriot; a parrot, spoon fed and well trained,

A world leader; a corporate seeder for bottom feeders.

Can you see your cog upon the great wheel?

What corporate label is now revealed?

Tell me now, are you a broker of bio tech or bigotry,

Or just an expendable commodity?

A president; a puppet with strings,

A provider; a social divider.

I’m sorry this bathroom is for republicans only!

Oh you’re poor and on the street; here’s a bowl of soup and a cup of religion.

Welcome to the land of opportunity, your number is 6,999,999,999, please take a seat and wait till it’s called.

A freedom of speech; lets practice what we preach,

A freedom of press; for media barons to sew their jest.

This program was brought to you by;

 The board of parasitic propaganda.

Stay tuned for the news;

 Your fix of contemporary chaos and bad behavior.

Capitalism; contortionists in a great schism,

A liberty; my country tis of thee.

Here’s your american dream; that will be fifty percent.

After twenty faithful years of service we gave your job to China.

 But we managed to get you a portion of your pension,

 You just may be able to survive for five years with social insecurity;

 You’re very welcome!

Of thee I sing; land where my fathers died,

 Land of the pilgrims pride, from every mountain side;

 LET FREEDOM RING!

The bald eagle soared to great heights;

How majestic was that.

I hear it’s endangered;

Environmental toxins causing reproductive failure!

I'm with Ronald Hull... I agree with much, but not all. My 100% goes for your style of writing, though. What a creative idea, and very clipped, and precise in meaning. I love the weaving of the songs throughout it. LET FREEDOM RING !! That's for sure. --Charlie

Profound & prolific...words of truth in this writing, it's our country and we should vote to keep out those who as E.T. quotes, "Cut from the same cloth." Americans need to wake up and choose people who we know will get the job done and not just talk about it.

Our bald eagle is getting more bald headed by the minute and the battle cry of the republic as been covered by the noise of the ticker-tack machines telling the shareholders to come and get the revenues from the last bison killed...but not for food.
Great words!!!

H.J. many are singing this same tune of late, and methinks the truth has finally come home to roost.Makes me wonder what the future elections are going to bring. I hope no one votes for the Presidential candidates,now running, they are all cut from the same cloth, and what we desparately need is change! Excellent write!

I wish that readers read this magnificent composition with the EYES of REASON, and JUSTICE.

"A Yankee Doodle" is a historic poetic accomplished task poemized under the lights of THE THIRD PARAGRAPH OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, and poetized to ring the Independence Bells.

I salute You, Poet.

In admiration,
