We have been a Military family for the past 28 years and very proud of it. The Military had provided us with a wonderful life , but like everything there is a price to pay for all good things. We look at my husband and all the other Military as our heros. It was an honor to live this life and support them through the years and the tears.
A Chapter In MY Life
I tell you of the good times, I cherish all through life,
But never of all the years, I've been a kind devoted wife.
Never of the places I've lived, Through the years of Military life,
Or the nights I cried worried, As A military wife.
I tell you of the five children, and nine grandkids that we have,
I fill you in on happy moments, but nothing that makes me sad.
I tell you of my wishes, and lead you to my dreams,
But never of this life I lived or the places that I've been.
I don't talk about the sleepless nights, or the teardrops that I've shed,
I never talk about the nightmares, that went rushing through my head.
The Military life had led us good, It gave us a wonderful life,
It made me a stronger person and added a chapter in my life.
We lived in seven different provinces, over the course of time,
And each time we moved broke our hearts, for the friends we left behind.
But now the time has come to rest, the moving is long gone,
We've settled here in Ottawa, for now it is where we belong.
I hope to return to NS., I'll call it home once more,
I'll be surrounded by friends and family , that I do adore.
Our children have all grown, with lives they've made for them,
And now it is our turn to rest, as another chapter of our life begins.

|Rose, this is such an upbeat expression -- choosing to talk about the positive rather than the negative.

|Sis a very special heartfelt write and I know of the tears and fears you held inside. And yes you have a wonderful like that the military helped provide but you paid the price with your worries not knowing what tomorrow could bring.

|well said and understood. Moving much myself in life there are many friends lost along the way and plenty more to meet in the next. They do make up the stories in our lives and many times I wonder where they are. I'm glad that you are going to rest. that will be strange in of it's self. Look forward to more writes like this. |Great opening of heart and soul to give us an honest glimpse into the life and way of life it is to be a military family for it is truly not just a husband's career but a family career. My hat it tipped to the men, women and families of all those who serve.

Thanks for taking the time to tell about the moments in your life as a military wife and all the wonderful gifts you have collected, the friends you will always cherish and the memories--both bittersweet and loved--of a chapter in your life. I can tell from your poem you are very proud as am I for sharing with momentous time with your readers.
