"View From A Porch"

Wicker rocker
Cooling breeze
Perched between home and the world
In a place all my own
Time slows down
Little pleasures begged to be savored
Stay as long as you like
Simple enough ritual
Loose ends all wrapped up
Nothing fretted over
Breathtaking views offer inspiration
Behold nature’s wonders
Fog lifts, gives way to sparkling water
Escape to my favorite place, not far away
Traditional memories now being played
Listened contentedly, redolent of days gone by
Must have been invented for vacationing in the past
Screened in to shelter us from soaking up the present
Low clouds slowly race across the sky
As the wind ripples through them erratic
Steal a quiet moment as the sun veils the porch
A cool breeze holds me as I drift off to sleep
The sound of the ocean waves invigorates the senses
Takes charge of empty feelings, forbids them to move in
Summer’s pleasures have taken up residence
Reveal their glory as they reach into my soul
Day turns into night where black silhouettes appear
Casts their shadows against the dreaming lambency of the moonlight
As they survey the windless and tide-less sea
It drifts along past the quiet solitude of the dunes
Pausing now and then to peer up at the star-filled sky
A new dawn brushes away the darkness with new promises
Flicked here and there – welcomes all visitors.

Gimme, gimme, gimme... I have been away from my very own beach scenario for 24 hours already and can't wait to get back tomorrow... You took me there today, at least, Tinks, for which I can't be grateful enough! Even if this were just an inkblot it would STILL be a great poem to me... which it isn't and which it is, if you get my drift......... ARRRRRRRRRRGH it's the lack of sea air.... LOL K :))

Hyannis on Cape Cod, the beach house had that porch with the sea view where one of my grandfather sat, rocking back and forward his rocking chair as he smoke a pipe of sweet tobacco with his eyes way out, beyond horizon and time, lost himself in inner toughts.
It was a white porch too.

This is one of your best pieces, Tinka.
Without hesitation my thoughts hooked a line from a Small Faces song, Lazy Sunday Afternoon. The line was, 'Close my eyes and drift away.' This was triggered by your line:
'A cool breeze holds me as I drift off to sleep'

Ah, the thought of it
