One day, a million dreams ago
In a far different time and place,
His smile had set her heart aglow –
Something that no one could erase.
Her days were filled with joy and fun
As she awaited each exchange,
But then, so soon, the joy was done
When their companionship turned strange.
He wanted someone she was not
And someone she refused to be,
It seemed the two quickly forgot
Their friendship had held harmony
He’d sung chorus for her words
The two were, indeed, quite a pair
But, their song would remain unheard
Since their notes vanished in thin air.
Time heals all wounds; this much is true
The two have found lasting success
But, sometimes, when the day is through
Her heart still suffers much duress
When she looks back upon the days
She spent, a million dreams ago
Remembering his special gaze –
The one that made her love him so.
