When the mist comes

An October mist touched on my window pane one day
Then it slowly turned round and moved out on its way
But I ran outside quickly, my head in a whirl
Cause' inside that mist was a beautiful girl

She had burnt through my soul, with her deep eyes of blue
And my heart it was pierced by a love real and true
But the mist it had risen to a clear crystal sky
My heart it was burning, I had to know why

Then just two nights later, the mist it returned
As I quickly searched for her, my heart and soul burned
Then out from the mist, sang a voice oh so sweet
I was groggy and listless, and out on my feet

"Where are you? I begged, please come out to me
But the mist was so thick, that I just could not see
Then once again, the mist slowly moved away
I had no other choice left, but to hope and to pray

My friends say i'm crazy, how can all this be?
To love an apparition, is just plain foolhardy
But she captured my heart, cut me down to the bone
Like the Gorgon, Medusa, she turned me to stone

Now i've sat every night these past fifty years
I wait for my love, but she never appears
Oh this magical girl, I just could not resist
This beautiful woman, in this terrible mist

Sometimes, dreams are more real to us than reality. This poem proves this in a wistful, wonderful way.

An endearing tale of love and love lost. The yearning and longing for once what was. Such emotion running through this tale, enjoyed....

Wow, very thought provoking. I love the concept of the girl traped in the mist, the wait endured over the years, and the fools who disbelieve. Great write, great story line...can't wait to read more.
