“The question is not, ‘Can they reason?’

Nor, ‘Can they talk?’

But rather, ‘Can they suffer?’”

Jeremy Bentham

Every year, millions of companion animals are born homeless

And they die horrible deaths on our streets and in our shelters

Herculean efforts on the part of world wide humane societies

Have done little to stop this tragedy, which continues to occur

Far too many pet owners today still refuse to spay or neuter their own pets

Over eighty percent of the animals we rescued after Katrina were not ‘fixed’

One need only study the dire statistics of viciously cruel puppy mill factories

Unscrupulous breeders, pet dumping, and gross neglect, part of this tragic mix

Today is International Homeless Animals Day, which was established

To shed needed light on a truly horrendous problem that’s not going away

Please visit the website listed below, to see the events planned in your area

Please Spay and Neuter your own pets; please help save One More Life today

“Think occasionally of the suffering,

Of which you spare yourself the sight.”

Dr. Albert Schweitzer

"The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them,

But to be indifferent to them. That's the essence of inhumanity.”

George Bernard Shaw

"Until we have the courage to recognize cruelty for what it is,

Whether its victim is human or animal,

We cannot expect things to be better in this world.”

Rachel Carson

"When a man has pity on all living creatures,

Only then is he noble.”

Buddha

“The greatness of a nation,

And its moral progress,

Can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

Gandhi

“If you have men who exclude any of God’s creatures

From the shelter of their compassion and pity,

You have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.”

St. Francis of Assisi

I have to agree that there is much not to trust about a person who can't show compassion for animals. You can be hard, but still not heartless...Jerry

I live in a place where there are plenty of homeless cats and dogs. It hurts to be unable to do something better than giving them scaps of food. I have been thinking about this problem for years but can't do much about it. Please keep writing about it Mr. Ed. Something good could come of it. Thank you.

Sinceely,

Regino

Your Ed Are Noble

For you truly are a speaker for those unable

to utter the pain they suffer

In Norway, four days ago, three teenager girls where charged for setting a cat afire, just for fun and see how it reacted.
I saw the picture of the cat and couldn't believe that a human being could do such thing...then I remembered the wars.
God put the man last at the Paradise, it should have told man about to cool it thinking he was number one.

It drives me nuts too!

BTW my oldest granddaughter saved my grandson from a dog attack. One which i have learnt happened after this same dog attacked another child early. The owner tried to hide the dog and the car he used to pick it up. With the many facts that are showing up my thoughts is the owner of the dog should be put to sleep. He knew the dog was vicious and did not restrain it correctly. It is suspected the dog has been used in fights. The dog unfortnly I have to say needs to put to sleep as well. This dog only knows violence and is a treat to children. In reality the best I continue to hope for is that the laws get stricter when owner act incorrectly.

My gosh Ed ... you reach into the heart with this one and squeeze. Yes ... they can suffer, and they do too often, and needlessly. The quotes are excellent. You are a man given to his craft, and I want you to know that I respect that.
Blessings brother ...

I didn't realize it till I opened the site that they had the open house down town today. Thanks for getting the word out. WE have a lot of people who come up this way during the summer and "lose" their dogs while out camping or visiting. Then we have wild packs in the winter to worry about. Lady J

A powerful write filled with heart and soul...if only each family could make an effort to help all those abandoned and lonesome animals that wonders the streets, back roads of every city...or just take the time to have their animals neutered...their would be less sorrow in the world for God's creatures. A great site I might add...enjoyed the write my friend, as always written from the heart!

Mr. Ed, you've elected a wonderful cause on behalf of animals. I'm sure your message is heartfelt by those who read it, an a little care for animals will go a long way. "A helpless animal is a terrible thing to neglect."

Ed as far as I am concerned anyone who would hurt a child or an animal is not fit and aninmals need love and care the same as a child. the law is just going to have to be a lot stricter then it is.
It really upsets me to see those people get off with it.
Thank you for your words.

ED ... Thanks for reminding us that uncaring despicable people still exist.

Perhaps, if Bush, Congress, and others like them had been FORCED to 'camp out' down in N'ORLEANS for at least a week, living in that awful MUCK, they would have learned some compassion.

Although, I seriously doubt it. They are so self-centered and avarice-ridden that they would probably become even WORSE!

Peace. Tom.
