We all have to get old....some time. It's not life that's important, it "living life" that is.

I thought like so many

That when I was old

There would be nothing to do

But sit all day and mope.

Saying ďWoe is meĒ wonít be my motto

Because thereís too much work to finish

Before I move on.

Those who went before me didnít get done

All the things to accomplish before their last breath

So Iím here to do it as best as I can

And hopefully finish the tasks they all started

Before I move on.

My fingers ache and my back really hurts

When I stand far too long,

But thatís not stopping me from getting things done

That werenít finished after they were started.

Iíll do what I can to fight and finish those chores

Before I move on.

My husband did not get all he wanted done either before his death last Aug. He moved on to a pain free world though, but left his spirit behind with me. Grieving but reading and writing on Author's Den is very good therapy. Aches and pains keep me from geeting things done too, but carry on just like you. Always willing to try.

chuckle, chuckle. Could it be that you're a woman in disguise? You know --- a woman's work is never done.
I'm glad to hear that you intend to keep going, rather that sitting back and waiting for ...
A most uplifting poem.

You've got it right on, George. I too am fighting on with chores left undone and preparing my children to carry on after I am gone. There is so much to do and so little time. Excellent. Liz

Right attitude and I can quite understand that standing in one place too long . . . I, too, have a mountain to climb before I fall off it . . . Good poetry . . .

As long as there is passion, there is no age. Age is a state of mind until your back goes out! lol! Another warm piece of your heart here George.

Well George I've always believed that we all have to get old but we are only as old as we feel, I keep telling my grown children that I gave them my time now my time is mine and I have a lot of living to do. Another great write, thank you for sharing.

George, nother good pen. When I retired, like many others, somem friends said I'd get bored real quick and wish I was back at work. They were mostly wrong! After working for over 45 years, I don't miss the daily grind of getting up and going to work, but I find I miss the interaction with friends that I've made from work.

I stay as busy being retred, as I did while working. I serve on the board of director for our local chamber of commerce, I continue to host (voluntarilly sp) a interview show for two radio stations, and am involved with volunteering at several other non-for-profit orginizations.

I manage to do this while experiencing chronic health issues. Someone already said it, and it's true; aging ain't for sissies!

Good write,
