My father's misquote of Romans 8:28 took on great meaning at the time of his death in a truck/train wreck. It has become my most helpful verse of Scripture.

“Everything works out for the best.”
These words he kept deep in his chest.
When times in our life
Were packed full of strife,
He’d say, “Everything works out for the best.”

Where did he get these strange words?
Was it something he thought he had heard?
He just found those words great
Like Romans eight-twenty-eight.
“Everything works out for the best.”

“Everything works out for the best.”
He often put these words to the test.
He believed they were true
And he’d pass them to you.
“Everything works out for the best.”

His life was taken too soon
On that February afternoon.
But his worlds echoed loud
To that large funeral crowd.
“Everything works out for the best.”

His words are still with me today.
They come to my mind when I pray.
My faith has be led
By these words that he said.
“Everything works out for the best.”

Everything does work out for the best. Sometimes we question why, but we must have faith that he is leading us to the right place at the right time. Putting our faith in him is necessary for a happy life. I do think of him as the best and the most gracious loving Father I can have.

I agree with Kathy. Everything works out for the best when you believe in God's will. I pray that that is true today in my hometown of Jena, LA. Let's all pray that is the case. Jean

EVERYTHING works for the great good and glory of God. I think our parent's generation fully embraced this idea. Mine passed it on to me, too. Regardless of how frustrated and sad I become, I know He's always got it figured out.
Your poem is truly inspirational! Kathy

Your Father was a very wise man to share those wise words, my Mom would tell us as poor as we were someone else was worst of and that everything works out for the best. I may not have thought so back then but I now know she was right as I am sure you feel about your Father's words. Again thank you for sharing and I am so happy you joined our family.

Bravo! A standing ovation for this poem. And, with HIM, everything does work out for the best.
God Bless and thanks,
Chris

Simple, but effective theory and an upbest way of living your life . . . It is a great thing when you can remember your father by a saying. I remember mine by the words, "Well, I'll be John Brown." He used "John Brown" in lieu of a vurse word . . .
