Fall is my favorite time of the year next to Christmas...

A Heady Brew

By: Felix L. Perry

The heady musk of the woods…my nostrils fill

The new season makes a grab for full attention

A squirrel bitches in a high tone of indignation

Complaining I am here without a formal invitation

Leaves turn sunrays into a kaleidoscope of light

As pine needles cushion my footsteps in soft delight

I trace with wonder paths of voyageurs of old

Mr. Partridge smiles knowingly down on such a sight

On a stump worn thin by so many passing guests

Beside a brook I seek some time to passive think

The forest sounds combine in soothing symphony

While I, of Mother Nature’s boundless bounty drink

Mother Nature had you surrounded with all she had to offer. Sounds, sights, and the feeling of being embraced by She herself!

Love ya!

I often take strolls in the nearby forest and feel an instant change come over me as I am dwarfed in the midst of the mighty pine. A feeling sweeps over me and there is no doubt that it is something reverential. Your poem captures this feeling. It captures its enchantment!

What a great, colourful journey I went on here - a lovely combination of imagery and your love of the season. - Each season has its own merits but I think I have to agree, it is one of the most beautiful times of year and without doubt autumn clinches it for me too. Hugs Panda :)

HI Fee -i was sad, thinking today that i might not see a 'proper' Autumn - Tenerife - 'The Island of Eternal Spring' -all that changes is the need for a shirt in the evening - same flowers, same Cacti...most the trees are evergreen, more or less the same temperature all year round...i thought i would have to experience those colours through poems, missing them madly - thanks for starting the season for me with this rich write - i love the smell of the woods, anytime, but especially in late Autumn - lovely poem Fee, thanks :) Nicky x

The ease that comes over you and me and other poets, when nature surrounds us, is the peace we cherish in the other seasons. I love Fall best of all.

To drink in Mother Nature's endless bounty, and the symphony of the forest - is a wonderful time. It is to be celebrated, and "YES" it is a heady brew.

Soon the leaves will be changing color [here], and you've reminded me to take some time in the forest and enjoy.

Squirrels at my house believe they own the deck and throw hickory nuts and acorns at me when I sit out there. But as a child, I would search out the wild violets in the early spring with great delight. Any season of the year is great in the woods.
Thank you Fee for reminding me how great they are.
Love the Write!!!

A wonderfully visual poem Fee. I'm a spring and summer gal myself but do apprecite the beauty of autumn. When the leaves change here and you drive down the mountain towards the valley every color is seen and itt's magnificant.
Take care my friend,
