Hmmmmm

My horoscope said do something creative!

My mind said, “Creative!? Creative, Creative Creative?

You could paint in watercolors or oils

Stunning landscapes, portraits, modern

You could sculpt in metal, clay, or plaster

Elegant statuary for homes, parks, and yards

You could dance in all the different types

Tap, ballet, polka, tango, Latin salsa.

You could sing beautiful songs

Opera, gospel, rock and roll

Then in stepped commonsense!

Are you crazy!!!

You can’t paint, you don’t know how!

Sculpting? Since when can you work in metal, clay, or plaster?

Dance!? Your chicken chasing knee won’t support you

Dancing in not in your future my deary dear.

You can sing in the choir at church but today is Saturday!

Singing in the choir isn’t in the cards for today.

Try something you know and have tried before

Poetry is the medium you could try.

Therefore, here is something creative or at least an attempt

I hope it is enjoyable and not too cheesy!!!

layered between the things you say you can't do is the thing you know how to do. and there, you do a great job. my brother use to tell me that the only reason i'm not a nuclear physicist is that i've never learned how.

keep doing what you do...and it ain't cheesy either.

cheers,
dan

well at least, no "cheesy rhymes" like I would've pathetically added. However, my answer to the call: I'm going to mow the lawn. And, the way I do it is pleasantly unmethodical. What pattern should I mow in today? ummm, let's see? Got it: $ signs: i could use the affirmation!

Ann, I could appreciate this poem. I've often told people that I'm a poet because I couldn't play music or paint. I think the creative impulse comes from the same place. We just have to find the medium that suits us.Enjoyed it. - David

A very creative poem, I'd say. And now that you've penned it, even though it's Saturday, sing a song to the birds - maybe a song about cheese!! (Sorry, I 've really got carried away with cheese lately!)
