What good is love with your lover gone?
My heart plays on its wretched song.
Reminders of a distant past,
aches of memories recast.
Haunting through the nights & days.
While I live a life of false charades.
The painted smile which masks the pain
of the jaded view disappointment stained.
Love and trust once more shattered.
As nothing came of what once mattered.
As the darkness washes over me
I grit my teeth and strain to see.
A hint of light beyond the door
closed by love forever more.
My heart resides now in a box
of triple plate titanium locks.
The keys I banish to the sea
that they may never return to me.
That I may never fall again
victim to a love's dead end.
