A Somali lady has come to America and after few years of stay she gained more weight than her body can lift. Back home it was hardship that made her thin and in America it is overeating and lack of exercises that made her put on weight. Dr. Osma's last painting at inspired me

Obsessed with my weight
I begged for more weight
As thin women of my size
Caught no men in Africa

I envied those fleshy women
Who made sweat on the bed
And who impressed their men
In a high sentimental barrage

On coming to America
I found plenty to eat
I put on some weight
As I am glued to the TV

With this growing weight
I once again feel obsessed
I can’t go near the mirror
My image will scare me

We eat, I think, to look well fed, but starve our health, instead. Excellent, thought provoking write. Well done.
