It happens over and over, that restless tossing, sometimes caused by aching bodies; or perhaps by the unrest of the day. What to do? You may not be able to cure your sleeplessness, but you could come out the winner in the night's battle. |

SLEEPLESS
Do not feel downhearted;
Just praise the Lord instead!
Rather than being a Sleepless Grump,
Be a JOYFUL SLEEPYHEAD!
When restless thoughts disturb your sleep;
All night you turn and toss;
Think of Jesus, who came to die
upon a wooden cross.
And when your head is pounding
and you simply cannot sleep,
Think of thorns in Jesus' brow,
that made His mother weep.
He didn't have a pillow soft
to bring Him strength anew.
Instead, He hung in tortured pain
because He cares for you!
Can you forget about your woes
and worship Him instead?
When sleep eludes you, praise the Lord,
and get up from your bed.
If you think I'm unrealistic--
the night is just too long--
Ask Paul & Silas, who in jail
burst into a song!
(after a terrible beating) ......
"about midnight Paul and Silas
were praying and singing."
(Acts 16:22 to 31)
Ask David, frightened exile who,
when threatened by King Saul,
lifting praise to heaven,
kept singing through it all!
"I will bless the Lord
at all times: His praise shall
continually be in my mouth."
(Psalms 34:1)
Even Jesus, knowing that
plans for His death were made,
lifted His voice in singing
on the night He was betrayed!
"And when they had
sung a hymn, (after the
Last Supper) they went
out to the Mount of Olives."
(Matthew 26:20 to 30)
So do not feel downhearted;
Just praise the Lord instead!
Rather than being a Sleepless Grump,
Be a JOYFUL SLEEPYHEAD!

| This poem reminded me "Blessed is the man who is too busy to worry during the day and too sleepy to worry at night." Contentment and peace comes not from the world but from the Prince of Peace - Jesus Christ! |

THIS IS EXCELLENT ADVICE...DONE SO WONDERFULLY WELL. ANOTHER ANTIDOTE THAT I FIND WORKS JUST FINE IS; READING THE BIBLE OR DOING A BIBLICAL CROSSWORD PUZZLE. I LAY IN THE BED READING, OR FILLING IN THE BLANKS AND I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW WHEN I FALL ASLEEP, BUT I DO. THANKS CONNIE...THIS SHARING WAS ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...

When I can't sleep I always pray, or have an intimate conversation with God about my life - the good and the not so good. I like your idea of being a Joyful Sleepyhead.
God bless you. Kathy |

I've been having a few restless nights of late and I always think positives as night time always makes things seem worse. Thank you for this. It will be top of my list next time I can't sleep. Tal;king to God is always a pleasure any way you look at it.
Love and blessings,
Susan |
