Once upon a time
There was a little red truck
That went almost everywhere
Saying, “muck, muck, muck!”
He didn’t feel special in any way.
He stayed sad and muck was all he’d say.
But what the little red truck didn’t know,
He too was special, he could pick up snow!
He never realized it was there.
He just knew that other trucks stared!
They’d all look at him, up and down
Each time, he would drive into town!
“Look!” they’d say. “See what he has!
He doesn’t even know, what’s on his back!
He just drives around doing nothing at all”.
Then, one wintry day, he heard something fall!
The little red truck stopped in his tracks
And backed up, almost too fast!
Ah! Lo and behold! Where he’d just been before,
To his amazement, there was snow no more!
Afraid and excited, he drove into town
To show all the other trucks just what he’d found!
He honked his horn loudly, “I want you all to see
What I, the little red truck has found on me!”
“What is this thing?” he asked pointing to his back.
“It moves the snow when I back up in my tracks!”
“It’s a snow plow!” one of the trucks exclaimed!
“You see you do have, much more than a brain!!
“Just like everyone, you too have a gift.
Look, right there is the handle for the lift.
And now that you know, what your gift actually is
You can help others, in times just like this!”
“Like what?” the little red truck asked,
Not realizing he was backing in his tracks,
“Whoa!” and plowed some snow from the road.
“Let me think about what I’ve just come to know.”
“So, all of us everywhere, we each have a gift!”
With tears of joy, he wiped his nose and sniffed.
“My gift is this snow plow for me to use
To help others just like me and like you!”
