We did not know our ancient mother, Africa, when we returned. And so we despised her wisdom and trampled the dignity of her people underfoot...

Painting by Hettie Rowley

Stalking my children

White death devours tribal dance

Silent fall the drums

Short and powerful. A lot said with such few words.

Beautiful, but everybody always seems to forget the good the white man brought to Africa. Africa was no paradise before (or since)! Keep well. Willie

So deeply sad when the drums have fallen silent. Such a powerful few words Keith.

You reveal an important truth and to acquire awareness is to gain great knowledge.

Yet, if we can recognize the nature of what happened then, can we see with clarity all that is happening now? Forms of colonization, exploitation, manipulation of the public opinion to make wars seem legitimate, separating developed cultures from savages and barbarians...

All of this still goes on. The devil has a thousand faces, but it's still the same old wrongdoer.

Good piece.

The three lines here tell a story of epic proportions! A timeless story of ignorance trampling the unknown. Fear dons the cloak and calls genocide righteous. A repetative story in history. It will only stop when we learn to embrace others' differences & give due respect. The painting is beautiful! The words, Keith, are dramatic & thought provoking. This one should have everyone looking inward~

Sobering, Keith, and very humbling. Much power packed into few words here. Redresses the balance, if only as a momentary stay against our ignorance and lack of shame. I am silenced, too. Kate xx

Two artists living under one roof, doing their own dance, yet dancing together, wonderful both of you, and that's the way it could have happened, your poem expresses all native cultures delimna, not another word needed, beautiful and the painting, looking wisely upon your write! Blessings! Jasmin Horst

The white death took over the Native American culture, too...such a tragedy, when the drums fall silent, so do her people. Excellent write, Keith, and beautiful painting, Hettie.

(((HGUS))) and love, Karla.
