"What we have enjoyed, we can never lose;

All that we love deeply, becomes a part of us."

Helen Keller

Every year around this time

As I begin decorating our tree

My thoughts always turn to him

He always brought us so much glee

He was the very first gift I ever gave my sweetheart

When we first started dating that snowy Christmas Eve

And he quickly immersed himself into our hearts and souls

Where he still remains today, and hopefully will never leave

He was a wondrously playful white feline

Who seemed to especially love the Holidays

And he truly brightened ours for many a year

So we truly miss his presence in so many ways

He absolutely adored the little Christmas train

As it chugged its way around our Christmas tree

And he especially delighted in the sound of its whistle

Purring deep within his soul as he listened to it so merrily

Colorful Christmas ribbons and bows were his special toys

He joyously played with them for hours each and every day

And he absolutely loved wrapping himself up in our gift boxes

Making us constantly laugh hysterically throughout the Holidays

And long after every Holiday Season had passed

He still played with Christmas decorations with cheer

I truly believe deep within my nostalgic heart and soul

He thought our Christmas Spirit should last the entire year

Our glowing snow white Christmas Star named Little Henry

Sadly lost his battle with severe kidney disease several years ago

But each year after the Christmas decorations are all finally finished

I can somehow spot his aura atop our tree – still purring, and all a glow

A beaustiful Poetic christmas tale
Reminds me of when I first got married we had a Cocker spaniel and a German shepherd weir combo but they got along great
We used to wrap their presents and they used to unwrap them themselves on christmas moring......

ED... nice eulogy!

The picture really grabbed my attention because of its shape. It is the same shape of our National Heritage, FORT McHENRY, here in Baltimore. It is known as a STAR-FORT because of its shape. The Birthplace of our National Anthem "O, say can you see by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hail at the twilight's last gleaming... "

And your beloved pet's name was HENRY --- quite a co-incidence, huh? May he, like our STAR SPANGLED BANNER, yet wave --- in your hearts forever!

No doubt about the joy our pets bring to us,if we let them. I think in some cases pets give more love to people than vice versa. They know what we need and love us no matter what.Henry sits atop the tree and long may he do so;-)Thanks for this beautiful poem Ed!

There is only ONE Christmas Star (JESUS), but Henry comes close in this beautifully moving dedicatory write, Ed. I'm sorry you lost your Christmas Star, but have him in your heart. And you share his life with the rest of us. Thank you.

Most beautiful story within this heart tugging poem; Little Henry live on in memory! He will never be forgotten! Glad you had him in your lives! Pets have a way of impacting people that nobody can explain; this lasts for an entire lifetime. I know I will never forget "Friday", "Ouizer", and especially "Cajun"! Very well penned; bravo!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Christmas - only days away; plastic snowmen and glowing reindeer adorn the lawns of neighborhoods all across America. All is calm, all is bright, and yet there is something tragic..
