The scoundrels and scholars, lovers and dreamers
assemblies wide and varied in wonder
fall prey to the same hopes, dreams and cares
and sooner or later a heart is laid bare
In truth there’s no armor, that stops cupids lance
it pierces all sort of protective advance
and can be fatal when his aim is just so
‘cause Cupids quite handy with his love arrow
And some will fall victim to silly giggles and glances
romantic dinners and close touching dances
others will have sadness in beau’s that stray badly
with hearts broken song that is sung so, so sadly
so not talent, not schooling, nor riches advantage
can protect someone from loves erratic antics
each one has to ride this mad merry go round
for no cure for this malady has ever been found

Oh my the last stanza is perfection.
Like sooo many, I've been hit hard by the last stanza, so much so that
i'm a devout celibate..... |

The ecstacy of defeat and the glory of the win is so encompassed in this glorious portrait etched in romance...

Sounds like whomever is struck with Cupid's arrow has got it baaaaaaaaad. The song, "Doctor, doctor, gimme the news, I got a bad case of loving you" popped into my head, reading this. Enjoyed reading this one, Sandi, well done.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
This is one "malady" I pray never gets a cure. :) |
