September Silence

The night is deafly quiet now,
not a single sound.
It’s as if the world
has stopped spinning around.
Not a single jet stream,
not one blinking light;
nothing to break the silence
of this dark, September night.
Just the quiet whimpers
and sometimes silent tears,
of our breaking hearts and anger,
disbelief and fears.
God help the lost and mourning,
ease their hearts and fear;
for the many victims everywhere
of what once stood tall and clear. |
