Susie is the first friend I made when I moved to Colorado and left everything and everyone I knew behind. What a friend she is!

As Long As I’m Alive!

When I was low and all alone,

I knew I could go and pick up a phone.

You were always there with some cheerful remark.

That left me smiling deep in my heart.

We drove me to the airport quite a few times.

You knew I'd get lost and end up in Pines.

You never complained or balked when I asked.

And always made it seem such an easy task.

When I was so ill and lying down.

You never left my side, you were always around.

The day you married Charlie and I stood by,

I felt such happiness that I thought I could fly.

Your vows were spoken and I was so glad,

You’re like the sister that I never had.

We've had bad times but good times as well.

You just have to know that I think you're swell.

I took the letters of your first name,

To tell you so in a little game.

S - IS FOR THE SUNSHINE YOU BROUGHT INTO MY LIFE.

U- IS FOR THE UNSELFISH WAY YOU TAKE ME IN YOUR STRIFE.

S - IS FOR THE SORROW THAT WE BOTH HAVE SHARED.

I -  IS FOR IMPOSSIBLE TO LIVE WITHOUT A PERSON WHO TRULY CARED.

E - IS FOR ETERNITY THAT OUR FRIENDSHIP WILL SURVIVE.

AND NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN AS LONG AS I'M ALIVE!

For Susie, my first friend in Colorado
