A look of introspection?

Across the decades I have waged battle

The skirmish line ebbs and flows

Deep within my mind the muskets rattle

Hot lead has pierced my thick skull

Each attack, demanding retaliation

My senses and resolve, numbed and dull

Being an obtrusive ass is too easy I find

I reason with myself to observe, improve

Vanity, arrogance, run deep in my ego

Offend, feel sorrow for the pain I cause

Analyze the how and why of it, I pause

Noble, sensitive my initial intents

Then discretion slips and I'm hell bent

If I could before hand reason, for a moment

There is little doubt a loaded mouth will spout

Whatever is whirling about

If you just carelessly spit it out

To give pause, reason and then

Let the thought, the moment flow smoothly

So as not to offend, others will comprehend

There will be no need to make ammends

How is it, a thing so simple. obvious

Can make me such an obtrusive cuss

Jon - This is good medicine for each of us, especially we who are witty and ready to deliver the ultimate answer or reply. Howsomeever, I've benefited by remembering what a wise one once said. It goes like this: "Man's incurable fault lies in his love for hearing his own voice rather than that of wiser speakers." Over the years, I've boiled that down to two words; Big Ego! - 'Nuff said. - Bill

We can't change what was said in rage in the past,
but I've learned too keep my big mounth shut most
of the time these days. It's easier for me to be assertive.
A very creative way of expressing inner anger.
Stay safe

I am an opinionated woman with strong convictions. I try like a son-of-a-gun to temper my verbal messages. Sometimes I do really well, but then ... Good title for ones mouth and brain/conscience. lol

God bless you. Kathy
