An Enigma....

Photo "Confusion Falls SC"

Gifts Unappreciated
By La Belle Rouge

it was an enigma...once
crouching, hiding in the deluge
of a swift flowing underground river
it was a mystery, an amalgamation of whys
and taunting teases of un-promised answers

was it a curse or a blessing?
weakness, unstoppable juggernaut?
my greatest defense, and worst offence
it angered me and i spit in the eye of karma
what dispicable evil had i done or been in other lives
that this should become the semblance of a living hell

a gift? this irreverent unraveling of secrets
disrobing hearts to stare at starkness of such pain
hearing sounds of silence, absorbing despairing thoughts
gifting the energy of my life force and loving to a foolish fault
but that was so long ago when still an annoying agonizing enigma
and so now having at last been educated by more failures than successes
having walked though fire, drowning in irresistable jetties of unknown streams

love then, with everything that inside you dwells
but refuse despair and the sting of deluded self pity
expect no empathy or to reap similar sown in this world
consider sacrifice to be eternal and joy no more than fleeting
keep your counsel, make life’s aspiration to know your own heart
welcome time as friend, cease futile warfare against invincible weapons
give all but expect nothing from those human hearts unlearned or afraid of life
accept your soul's unappreciated cursed gifts and always embrace the power of love

I was looking out into the universe at the planetary arrangement, for me there is much curiosity there, especially for the sun. What keeps it burning so long, anyway I saw you Belle, glowing and burning hot as the sun, great poem to ponder deary

Well said, a little meloncholy and yes emotionally charged. Giving love freely can and does hurt sometimes...

Be safe,

Unigue and origianal write, so different from your norm but still with the same passion you put into all your works...lovely.

A poem with the soul of a tree, full of questions and answers like leaves, and down to the roots, where stubbornly love will go deep in search of the elixir of life.
A well written emotional poem.

WoW!! Made me dizzy as I scropped down the lines of the poem, like an inverted waterfall . . . Still, a lot of wisdom therein . . .

Quite powerful, and quite an enigma, but we should all truly embrace the power of love.
