or should it be the early worm?

I've heard the early bird gets the worm,
so if this holds water,
what is the worm during up so early?
Maybe it's safer with less birds out.

I rise early in the morning,
go after a fresh cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
Most of the other humans are still sleep.
There are less crazy drivers,
the sidewalks are practically empty.
There's a freshness and peace in the air.
The early birds are singing,
as they sit perched in the trees or on the wires.

I sit and stare out the window of my favorite cafe,
or in my car after visiting seven eleven for coffee.
I feel at peace and somewhat safe,
but I wonder about the worm.
Did he escape the early bird,
like I escaped the maddening crowd?

Kool and thought provoking
the worm is escaping the morning dew which soaks her domain
"the grassy ground", to keep her from drowning
I too love the early moring walks to keep my sanity from escaping.
Peace be with you brother
