this poem was written quite some time after the death of my grandfather.i never really unerstood why i didnt cry at his funeral....sti wonder today but its a poem written to confront the distances that are evident in family and how we only realise them when its too late.....enjoy

why dont i cry
he was my grandfather
i never got to know him?
he was my blood and i took my blood for granted
never took the time to be a grandson
the time for regret has passed and the moment will live on
a grandson carrying his grandfather
a grandson realising hes gone

am i ashamed
am i a bad person
was it me
was it him

questions that have become irrelevent
answers that will mean nothing
denial that will pass
why dont i shed a tear
just one so i dont fear
