I'm not a religious person

but today when I watch the

raindrops fall from the trees

and strong winds rage around

the house and sweep the streets

I think it's like nature weeping

mourning for the death of a good man

and I feel sadness in my soul

Today in a time that all over the world

good men, good women and innocent

children die in senseless, bitter and

unnecessary conflicts and wars

to satisfy the greed of modern Pharisees

claiming to do so in the name of whatever

the name of the god they say to worship

Again I feel sadness in my soul

and I burn a candle and pray in my

very own way for a fresh wind of change

to come and restore the old meaning of

GOOD friday once again!

I didn't choose poetry, poetry chose me

I appreciate and completely agree with what you state in this poem, Frieda. These sentiments that you share are familiar to me and not just of Good Friday. Thank you. Love and blessings to you,

Regis

I really liked this, and I feel the same about this day, but the end of your poem gives hope to a real Good Friday. That being said, it is because of this day that we have the resurrection and a powerful new beginning- you showed just that here. :)

I can hear your inner conflicts churning as you observe the world as it is today. Perhaps one day all will be well as it should be....

Be always safe,

Your spirit and love for humanity is most evident in this. Yes, perhaps one day all the agression that surrounds us will vanish. I join you in praying for a change.

God bless you. Kathy
