A poem about how the baseball season and a path to true love were begun.

Photo Copyright ©2008 - Jill Eisnaugle. This photo was taken at Houston's Minute Maid Park on February 14, 2008.

A long-awaited moment came
With no more need to reminisce
We knew every player by name
As daylight turned to nighttime’s bliss
The bleachers were crammed with loud fans
And we were more brazen than most –
A couple filled with future plans
At a ballpark near to the coast.
Stadium lights streamed bands of gold
Across the field as night progressed
The grass was something to behold
Its loveliness was Heaven blessed
The anthem caused our eyes to tear
Before the players staked their claim
Beginning yet another year
Of balls and strikes at each home game.
A heart in chalk traced ‘round home plate
On a night filled with stars galore
Will the beauty speak to our fate
Will our love match the final score
The game was a hard-fought soiree
With base pads touched and spirits moved
Our team was the victor that day
Their talents, like our love, was proved.

Nice photograph of home plate! So very romantically beautiful using the favorite pass time sport as an analogy, very creative indeed...
