This is a hard question to answer for many reasons. I am still not sure what I would do.

What Would You Do?

Someone once asked, "What you’d do if your husband cheated on you?"
Would you take it lying down and be completely defeated too?
At that time, you weren’t quite sure, what your answer would be.
‘Cause the question was so bizarre, something you could never see.

No one ever thinks the day you exchanged your marriage vows.
That your mate will feel differently, than he does right now.
You might have been living in a fantasy of your own makin’.
Where nothing bad could penetrate and your beliefs totally unshaken.

How naïve you were back then, and wished life never changed.
For now you feel lost and forsaken but mostly deranged.
It was hard to realize that life never stays the same,
It can change in an instant and with no one entirely to blame.

So what do you do now, do you forgive him or move on?
When the fact is, you still love him and you bore him a son.
When he says, “Never again,” wanting to believe him & forgive him too.
“Cause that’s who you’ve been, who you are, and that’s what you do.

I have wondered the same thing... I still don't know what the answer would be... I just pray that I will never be in such a situation...

...to be unfaithful...casts a shadow upon a vows...that may never again know the brightness of the sun...always a dark spot...perhaps to remain together...yet always something there...easy to forgive and hard to forget...tough call Bonnie.

People do change and it's pretty tough when one is placed in that position. Had it been the wife who cheated would he have forgiven her also if she asked for a second chance?

I would probably have a hard time forgiving him, but know I would have to do so; God would want me to do this. A powerful thought provoker you've penned, Bonnie; very well done! BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Wow Bonnie May every word written held truth and related a story that one too many relationships have had to endure, most not recovering. At my age having dealt with it already, if I'm ever graced a second chance at love and marriage the boundary will be set CLEARLY before the wedding. Unfaithfulness = Loss of Me. No counseling, no discussions no wavering back and forth, plain and simple -- You Stray, Its Over. Sometimes when both parties know the severity of consequence to such a thing those temptations aren't so tempting anymore. Well Done, Deboorah

Bonnie you have also penned a tear jerker yourself. Yes it is very disarming when such unfaithfulness occurs. Sometimes I think people are caught up in a moment and later realize they cannot abide by their own honors.

So sad and thank you for sharing this penning,
~Blessings Gwendolyn

Bonnie,

An uncomfortable position for one to find themselves in - don't know what I would do. Trust would be hard to restore - forgiveness - thought provoking excellence.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
