Julius Cesar said that the people will be content if he gave them bread and circus.
They are doing just that...people! ! !

People wanted more bread and circus,
send in the clowns, because Iím sad,
the countryís going to hell in a basket,
you know? Nobody seems to give a damn.

Is that for happiness that the multitude
let out from their souls the loudest of laughs,
or thatís because they have their nerves
shattered by lose hyenas, they are in fright?

Every four years the circus comes to town,
people wearing funny noses, like the clowns,
telling half truths, promises and mostly lies
to an audience full of naÔve knockdowns.

In the circus manege we have the one and only
from the geriatric ward with hopes to last,
a Fury whipping her all too dead horses
and Farrakhanís his beloved chosen one.

Oh! what a performance we are privy of!
no more bread, but send us all the clowns,
should laugh when we can, Ďcause we will not
when the circus arrive inside the White House.

t first I thought this was a picture of the three EDs as children but then I went on to read the poetry. This tongue in cheek write would be funny if not for the truly sad and futile points made in the lines. Well done and a great political statement.

I think you are SO RIGHT, Georg. And I agree with you completely. I've learned to "tune-out" the political news when it comes on TV. Shall we start a write-in campaign for "RUFUZ for PRESIDENT"? Yeah!

The presidential election is a circus of clowns
Your words capture beautiful imagery
And a vivid pictured of terrifying
thoughts and concerns that's going through everyone's mind
Is frightening to know that one of those clowns
could be our president!!
Outstanding piece Georg!!

George Very Good Political Arena Of A Write!
I am not very political myself, but was wondering did you see that clip of some debate about issues where the 2 men ended up in a brawl? OMG That was my high light to politics (shame on me)
But it was funny to see someone so seemingly educated & all that drop their cuff & tie clips onto a different level. It was like a rodeo wrestler-lol
