Have you ever met an old lover on the street that you never got over and had to pretend that all was right in your world...as you crumbled like sand inside?

The Chance Meeting

I met you on the downtown sidewalk

Outside that little café we once adored

You still looked every bit as pretty

And I knew from your love I wasn’t cured

You ask me how I’m doing now

I smile and say I’m getting by

You ask me if I’m truly happy

I don’t tell you that I often cry

You ask me have I found someone

I have to tell a little white lie

You ask me if I’m ever sorry

I just hang my head and sigh

You say you’re getting married

I choke out that I wish you well

You invite me to your wedding

I nod but want to scream and yell

You give me a friendly farewell hug

My heart just seems to stand still

You say goodbye and walk away

In summer’s warmth I feel a chill

This puts me in mind of one of my favorite songs "Auld Lang Syne" by Dan Fogelburg. If you know the song, you will understand what I am saying. But like that song, you have my heart yearning for you to console your being and let you rest your head on my shoulders. Well said, Fee.

"In summerís warmth I feel a chill"

does this feeling ever get past any of us? If we tell the truth, it doesn't.It's sad that we can't have everyone we desire. That is one of life's trials. This one causes a flutter in my stomach.

Blessings and love,
Susan

A very bittersweet chance meeting that would have been better served to have avoided. Sometimes we must live with the hand fate deals, sometimes we wish we did not have to....

Fee,
I went looking for mine :) and I found him, and it was a 4 years disaster :(
I Love The Dickens Outa Him Thou. I have known him for 28 years. He is a womanizer. I can't blame him for looking-but sharing? Well I can't have that because I am a very selfish woman :) so I loved him enough to turned him loose on all the lovely ladies out there. He tried to be loyal. lol
