A poem about a reminiscent moment that helped me remember a friend that I lost a few years ago...

TOSSING PEBBLES

pebbles, smooth and cool

congregate like street marbles

break dancing in my left hand;

an awkward reach behind my head

a south paws best throw,

my pitch stops mid release

because the waters

had something

on his mind...

the cloudy black river

spoke in thick ripples

and mild rolling waves;

I tossed three pebbles

they bounced from the river's belly

and he tossed one back

so I wouldnt feel

alone

I peered deeply in his mirrored middle

and I was certain that your reflection

was right beside me/

I miss you greatly-

but

that made me happy...
