Dayumm... I'm feeling good! :)) Am almost up to my correct tally of poems for the Month Of Poetry challenge: 16 out of 17 days! Be glad you have been spared most of them, though! K xx

Like hooks and eyes
we’re small, fiddly;

barely managing to
find each other,
let alone meet.

But our soft buttons
have been pressed;

like with those silk-covered
pearls on a wedding night,
our heat-swollen fingers
fumble, shape-feeling the dark.

And too tight these loops
of restraint: we can never
slip them over or off too easily.

The thread of me catches
on the barb of your smile
as with precision you eye
the fine point of my needle.

No sticky, quick-fix
fluff-collecting velcro
attachment is this;

we’re zipped ‘til our teeth
rust together.

Electric, these mundane thoughts almost sizzle to life. I don't know why but it makes me think about going out and smelling the roses I meant to ignore today.

A witty bit of convergence you give us Kate! Now, how do you know we want to be "spared" of those poems in hiding?

Well, I must say I don't think I will ever think of zippers in quite the same way! hee, hee...
But with all that plastic coating they put on the teeth nowadays, do zippers still rust? For this poem's sake, I hope so. :~)
So uniquely you... Love it!

Splediforous relationship poem... I love the analogies here... I like each strophe for a different reason. 5, 6 and the last are my very favorites... perfect ending too-- visual, but something more than that... it contains such a powerful resolution, that the reader cannot help but feel that-- up to his chin... --Charlie

I like this one Kate, the balance of velcro on one side against the zipper on the other is like a casual affair only to satisfy desire compared to the quality and strength of love that is meant to last forever. Well done my dear friend. enjoyed this one.
