Wanting to be remembered how you lived, not that you died

Dad’s Last Words

Remember me not, in this fancy box,
With it’s silk lining
And flowers all around

Remember me not, in this fancy suit,
With this tie
I always hated to wear..

Remember me not, with this
 Clean shaven face.
When my whiskers were always abound!

Remember me not, all stiff and cold.
When for seventy one years, I was hot-tempered,
Hot blooded and bold!

But remember my gentle side,
For although I had one nasty temper,
There were so many good times we had together.

So wipe the tears from your eyes
You know how I hate to see women cry.

So remember me not, in this fancy box
Just remember me as me!

What a wonderful tribute -- and I really like the way you did it -- in such an unorthodox way.

This may be one of your old poems -- but it is a goodie! Susan

Such a beautifully moving tribute to your Daddy - I'm sorry for your loss. :( Thank God, mine's still alive - not in great health, but he's alive - he'll be 78 in October. :) Lost my Mom in 1990 - I miss her, still -

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(
