I'm a long-time admirer of the late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and his writings on positive thinking. "Think Happiness" centers around the concept of positive thought.

Think Happiness

We frequently moan and groan over our fate
And wonder aimlessly why some things must be
Why life chooses to bring us to a dreadful place
That destructively hurts us so deeply you and me.

Yet, we must realize that all that we do and are
Is driven by the things in our life-centered sphere
The individualistic people all around us and our state of mind
Creating a pattern of what we think that becomes the determiner.

All too frequently we dredge up negative thoughts
Allow our minds to dwell deeply on the worst scenario
Reflecting on all the things too bitter to bear
Going through precious life on a never-ending emotional low

If we fine-tune our emotional apparatus toward desiring joy
Turn our wandering thoughts into goal-centered positive projections
A dissatisfied life and depressing mood will take a different turn
Offering far fewer disturbing obstacles and adverse objections

Every thought is an action waiting to happen
Like little seeds planted that you want to grow
Everything you think eventually becomes reality
Like a roadmap to all you will ever do and know.

So change your thoughts and change your life
Think of beauty, joy, love and grace as you choose
It will create for you things you most prefer
And the blessings bestowed on you, you’ll never lose

Jeanette,
It's our most difficult times that require positive thinking the most. That's why we should work on those skills when things are going well. An inspiring piece!

"Think Happiness" Jeanette I loved this penning and truly live by within my mind and exactly center life upon it. Many will truly be amazed at how much of a turn around their lives could actually take if they "Think Happiness". For that matter seems individuals act as if being happy is a disease or unbelievable or something, not to mention they react uneasy when one is happy. Happiness is embedded deep inside either a person has it or don't, either they want it or they don't, either they want to achieve or they never will bottom line.

"...So change your thoughts and change your life
Think of beauty, joy, love and grace as you choose
It will create for you things you most prefer
And the blessings bestowed on you, you’ll never lose"

Blessings as always,
~Gwendolyn

How true, Jeanette! Too often people cause their own pain and downfall, and would entrap others with them. Thank you for these wise poetic words!

So very in tune and right on many levels. If you think happy, you feel happy and therefore spread happiness wherever you go...

Jeanette, this is written in truth & wisdom, life is to short for us to allow our minds to dwell on unpleasant happenings in our lives. I try to shake the hurts out of my soul and walk with a smile on my face...I then feel so good inside. Loved this great advice...an excellent write.

I have always like Norman Vincent Peale's philosophy on life, myself. We all need to adopt that positive attitude, way of thinking. I know I do! LOL Very good write, Jeanette; brava!
