Art "The Dreamer"
By Gilbert Williams

Unlocked Door
By La Belle Rouge

I am not afraid to die
the Reaper at my door is no stranger
twice before he has taken my hand
once we hovered high over city lights
years later when he came to call
I drifted down his dark, winding river
enveloped in warm, gentle waves
where identity slowly floated away
on a stream of cosmic consciousness
until the river and I became one
no fear in a rendezvous with Death
and no desire to stay in a body
that has imprisoned, smothered my fire

life force burns brighter still
when the candle of mortality flickers
when the temple falls brick by brick
the spark of divinity it contained
will be freed at last to explore
hidden worlds it has only glimpsed
through cracks in the walls of sorrow
I am not afraid of Death’s intimacy
the familiar touch of his icy fingers
the comforting feel of my hand in his,
a continuation of life in prison
is my first fear, my deepest dread
*I cannot rail against dying of light
but will go gentle into that good night
I am ready to travel again with Death
should he knock, my door is unlocked
