Mood on the last day of a vacation

I Felt the Wind

I felt the wind on my last day
It woke every cell in my face and made me feel alive
I smiled at the sound of waves frolicking with pebbles below me
Soothed by the light dancing upon the waters I came to a stop
Under the shimmering a solitary perch lay absorbing the comfort of the sun
About the horizon a schooner began to visualize
Its mast and sail stood in glory over the waters
I began to walk again feeling the sand sift between my toes
Ahead of me stood clay cliffs with remnants of freed waters along its face
Climbing these walls I felt the dampened soil rush to the beaches below
On top the grasses were swaying with the marine breeze
Barn swallows waltzed in the sky diving towards me and swerving upwards at the last moment
Turning around I looked over the waters sparkling to the delight of the sun
The schooner disappeared over the horizon as I ran through the field as a boy
I came up to the road where the dust swelled like clouds to my footstep
The sun was grueling and my smile dropped
My vacation was over and I was heading home.
