the lights atop the telephone poles waver on the wind
shades and shadows quiver inside the house
the furnace fan comes to life with a hum and buzz
warm vented air pillows the drapes
waves of warmth crash over the shorelines of the rooms
a sea of warm dry air

reading the letter
tears well up
rising through the shields of protection
past the scars and scabs of experience
hot burning beneath the eyes
blind rage
flowing rains of hot waters

i sit
and more than a bit bitter
one of those days of conspiracy
time and tea
hot dry air
hot tears
hot tea
and a cold winter's day

i realize that i want to write to you the way i speak
the way i think
the way i feel
i want my shouts to scream
the burning trail to touch your cheek
the anger at the injustice to swell within your heart
to share this emptiness
this loneliness

valentine's day
a love letter?
a gift of me
no wrappings
no ribbons
nothing fancy
you, plain old me
and what i feel

we will fight
tear and claw
mangle, mar, and destroy
but we shall do it together
and together is better than alone

somewhere in the dark night you are warm
on a sofa?
with her?
your laughter and companionship in the howling winds
i am blinded and cannot hear
alone with my furnace
my tea
myself as companion
and i told you that i hate me

No beginning, no end of form--just uncontained emotional tension. Marvelous
